Core router #1 faild on Tuesday

Oh no! Core router #1 is quiet...no humming, no lights, dead. After swearing up and down the datacenter we realized we should do something about it. Duhhh!

Our second core router took over the load but not after we realized it was not redundant. We had to move an entire segment over (physically move it) and reattach it to our Cisco L3 swith and back to our #2 core router. Our #2 right now happily runs no less than 4 segments connecting us to two upstream providers.

Traffic is pretty, preeetty good and stable right now.
On Saturday Oct 20th however we're scheduling a downtime between 10AM and 12PM, maybe longer. It all depends on, and is directly impacted by the number of unforeseeable obstacles that arise as we proceed into the unknown. WOW...where did that come from? Yayks!
The entire network will be down for about +/- 2 hours. We're going to re-vamp our router setup and implement the fail-over feature.

We're letting you know so that this is not catching anybody by surprise.

Your Happy Hosting and always creative team @ Etonic Networks

As we get more servers, more services and so many customers with high demands we noticed we have had some power outages lately.

Thus, we have must get large UPS systems installed. The current ones just don't cut it anymore with the addition of so many new servers.

Announcements will get posted here as to what and how this will affect your hosted website or database.

This is just a stock image to make this look more pleasing. We recently just cut a check, (WE'VE CUT A BIG CHECK) and bought a bunch of new servers.

Of course we did not want to settle for cheap sh*t but did not want to buy Dell or Compaq either.
Making the long story short(er) we got nice machines, all at least dual CPU if not multy core.
It's a combination of Intel and AMD platforms from Intel Dual core 1U machines with 4Gb of ram and of course raid SATA drives to Dual core - dual CPU AMD Opterones 64bit units with 8Gb ram and about 6 SATA drives. ALL hot swap, yay!
This is good stuff, we're going to make everything as redundant as possible so that there are no more outages.
Of course, who believes that 99.999% uptime on a $9/mo hosting plan is a bunch of bull. We couldn't guarantee you that even if you paid $50/mo. It's just not going to happen because hardware fails and for you to have a redundant website for just a few bucks a month is just not worth it.
I would rather be honest to all of our customers and tell you upfront when we are scheduling a server move or upgrades or if your machine fails, you'll find out about it right here!
We're not here to rob you outright, we're here to host your data and provide a happy experience at a very affordable price. Remember our slogan: "Making the Web Affordable"? We're stickin' to it :))

So remember, check back on this blog to find out server status and issues as they arise.
