Last night we started upgrading one of our new fiber layer 2 switches. This connects our Vault load balancer to our cust01 and cust02 servers back to our main Cisco switch.
As you already know these 2 servers provide the Vault and Gallery services.

We upgraded them from 2 x 100Mbps lines to 1 Gbps fiber channel.

There were some issues that have been resolved as of 10:30PM on 6/17/08.

More maintenance due today, later in the afternoon.

Please be advised and take note. Data Vault and Picture Gallery will be down for maintenance reasons around 8:00PM - today.

Full service should resume no later than 10:00PM.

Any questions or problems should be directed to support.

Regards

Power Outage

Some of you may have noticed that etonic.net was unreachable from late in the day until this early morning.

There was a major power outage in the whole block, and our entire DC was out of power for roughly 6 hours.

We managed to keep it alive for a while but when we realized this outage is going to last we decided to properly shut down all the servers; thus preventing file damage in the even of a UPS failure.

As of 3:17AM this morning, everything is back to normal.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Like always, if you have trouble with anything pleace contact support AT etonic DOT net

Archive Upload on Vault

As some of you have already noticed. Our Data Vault now allows you to upload archives, not just individual pictures.

It currently supports the following archive formats: zip, rar, tar, tgz, and gz. There are more to be added soon, but we believe these are the most popular.

Once you log into your data vault, on the left side menu, click "Archive Upload". Just follow the instructions the the page to upload your archive.

Some of the benefits include:
-no archive limit
-fast uploads
-load balanced of course :)
-the new gallery takes the name of your archive
eg. If you upload mypictures.zip your new gallery will be created in /pictures/mypictures where all the pictures from within mypictures.zip will be placed.

NOTE: Do not use the regular image uploader to send archives as it will result in errors and your gallery being unavailable.

If you encounter problems, please contact support.

Regards
