The problem has been resolved at approximately 8AM Dec 14th.
It turned out a naughty router interface has gone bad and created huge latency.

( 2.9 / 884 )Today we have received a high volume of calls from a bunch of angry people claiming we called their number offering our services or some sort of scam.
Let me assure you, we do not cold call anyone, nor do we have a 3rd party doing such services for us. Whomever is doing this is not affiliated with us (Etonic Networks). They're are impersonating us from what we understand thus far.
This is probably some scammer trying to play a nasty joke spoofing their number with ours and calling random numbers.
All the numbers that receive the call see our caller ID thus returning the call to us - not knowing it wasn't us that called them in the first place. It's a catch 22.
There isn't much we can do to stop it. Neither can the phone company at this point. The phone systems are not designed to prevent CallerID spoofing (in technical terms).
So, if you happen to read this and happen to be one of the offended people, please accept our apologies but please understand we have nothing to do with this scam. We are just as much a victim as you are.
On the other hand we would love to know who's playing this unfunny game and why they're picking on us.
